The WCED WFD140B-030 AFDD is a 40A-rated protection device for high-power electrical circuits. It combines a 30mA Type A bi-directional RCBO with an Arc Fault Detection Device (AFDD), offering maximum safety against arc faults, short circuits, overloads, and earth leakage faults. This device uses a smart microcontroller to monitor electrical waveforms and instantly disconnect circuits if a hazardous condition arises, reducing the risk of electrical fires.
The WCED WFD AFDD is designed for single-phase AC systems, operating at 230V @ 50Hz. It fits into single-phase installations or can be used on one phase consumer units of a three-phase distribution board. It is not suitable for DC networks.
This AFDD provides comprehensive protection against:
- Short circuits
- Overloads
- Overvoltage conditions
- Earth leakage faults
- Both parallel and series arc faults
As a result of detecting faults, the built-in microcontroller processes arc impulses instantly and triggers rapid circuit disconnection to prevent fires caused by damaged wiring, faulty connections, or overloading.
In addition, the WFD AFDD ensures circuit stability by shutting off only faulty circuits, keeping healthy circuits operational. This prevents unnecessary power loss and reduces downtime.
Moreover, the switched neutral feature fully isolates the circuit, making insulation resistance testing easier and safer without disconnecting conductors.
