Description

WARB5100C/PME40RSP 3 Phase PME Fault Detection Unit – Complete Safety with MCB, PME Relay, RCBO, and SPD

Ultimate Protection with MCB, PME Fault Detection, RCBO, and Surge Protection for 3 Phase EV Charging Systems

The WARB5100C/PME40RSP is a top-tier 3 phase EV distribution board, providing maximum safety and compliance for electric vehicle (EV) charging installations. This unit actively disconnects all phases and the earth upon detecting a PME (Protective Multiple Earthing) fault. Therefore, it ensures a secure charging environment without requiring an earth rod.

This model, WARB5100C/PME40RSP, includes a 100A Curve C MCB, a PME relay, a 40A RCBO, and an integrated Type 2 Surge Protection Device (SPD). These components offer comprehensive protection against overcurrents, PME faults, residual currents, and voltage surges. Thus, it is the ideal choice for EV chargers that demand the highest level of safety.

Key Features:

  • Automatic Monitoring: Continuously monitors the 400V supply voltage across all phases, ensuring stable operation and quick response to voltage fluctuations.
  • 100A Curve C MCB: Provides reliable overcurrent protection, safeguarding the EV charging system from potential electrical hazards.
  • PME Relay: Automatically disconnects all phases and earth when it detects a PME fault, ensuring full compliance with safety regulations.
  • 40A RCBO: Delivers dual protection against overcurrents and residual currents, enhancing overall installation safety.
  • Integrated Type 2 SPD: Protects the system from voltage surges with visual indicators (Green = Good, Red = Replace) for easy monitoring.
  • PME Fault Detection: Isolates the system upon detecting a PME fault, protecting both the installation and the vehicle.
  • Auto Reset for Under-Voltage: Resets automatically after under-voltage isolation when normal voltage levels are restored, minimising downtime.
  • Manual Reset for Over-Voltage: Requires a manual reset via the RED “RESET” button after over-voltage isolation, ensuring optimal safety.

Safety Warning:

A qualified electrician must install this product according to IET wiring regulations BS7671 and current building regulations. Always disconnect the electrical supply before installation or removing the cover. After installation, the unit contains a live main supply (400V or higher). Thus, never remove the cover until the supply is fully isolated or disconnected.

Installation Instructions:

  • Connection of Main Incoming Device: Cut, dress, and securely connect the main incoming cables to the appropriate terminals. Tighten the terminals with a recommended torque of 2.5Nm for the isolator, MCB, RCBO, and SPD to ensure a secure and reliable connection.
  • PME Relay, RCBO, and SPD Testing: Test the PME relay, RCBO, and SPD according to manufacturer specifications to verify their proper functionality, which is critical for safety.

Important Safety Advice:

Install the WARB5100C/PME40RSP in a dry, well-ventilated location to ensure proper airflow and prevent overheating. Loose connections can lead to fires. Therefore, torque all connections correctly before powering up the circuit.
