Description

Lighting Connector for Aluminum Conductors

Wago 224-101

The Wago 224-101 Lighting Connector is designed for safe and quick termination of solid aluminum conductors. When used with Wago “Alu-Plus” Contact Paste, the connector automatically removes the oxide layer on the conductor, preventing further oxidation and corrosion.

It’s perfect for mixed metal connections, as it protects against electrolytic corrosion between aluminum and copper conductors within the same terminal block.

Key Features:

  • Aluminum Conductor Compatibility: Suitable for solid aluminum conductors up to 4mm²/12 AWG when used with Alu-Plus Contact Paste.
  • “Alu-Plus” Contact Paste: Automatically destroys the oxide layer during clamping, preventing new oxidation and protecting against corrosion.
  • Spring Clamp Technology: Allows for quick and tool-free connections, making installation faster and easier.
  • Corrosion Protection: Offers long-term corrosion resistance, ensuring a durable and safe connection.

How to Use with Aluminum Conductors:

  • Clean the Conductor: Clean the aluminum conductor with a blade before termination.
  • Apply “Alu-Plus” Paste: Insert the conductor into the clamping unit filled with Alu-Plus or apply the paste along the entire conductor for additional protection.

Current Ratings for Aluminum Conductors:

  • 2.5mm² (14 AWG): 16A
  • 4mm² (12 AWG): 22A

Benefits of “Alu-Plus” Contact Paste:

  • Removes Oxide Film: Ensures a clean connection by destroying the oxide layer during the clamping process.
  • Prevents Oxidation: Protects the conductor from new oxidation at the clamping point.
  • Stops Corrosion: Prevents electrolytic corrosion when aluminum and copper conductors are used together.
  • Long-Term Protection: Guarantees corrosion resistance over time, ensuring secure connections.

Applications:

  • Lighting Systems: Perfect for terminating aluminum conductors in lighting installations.
  • Mixed Metal Installations: Ensures safe and corrosion-free connections when aluminum and copper conductors are used together.

The Wago 224-101 Lighting Connector offers a quick, safe, and corrosion-resistant solution for terminating aluminum conductors. Its spring clamp technology and Alu-Plus Contact Paste ensure that connections remain secure and long-lasting.
